Descrizione
Ein deutsches Requiem is a sacred work by Johannes Brahms completed in 1868. It is a polyphonic choral symphonic work, which made the name of the German composer, then thirty-five years old.
This was one of the works that definitively showcased the talent of the artist, who, mature beyond his years, was capable of an ambitious musical construction, of great expressive depth and broad structural scope.
In its 7 movements, the Requiem does not follow the liturgical texts of the funeral rite, but is based on texts taken by Brahms himself from the Holy Scriptures, texts that explore the different aspects of death and, above all, of the consolation that Man draws from his Christian faith.
